Good art has a way of getting around normal mental barriers we put up. Powerful images and favorite songs have a way of burying themselves so deeply within a person that it might just have the power to influence us for years. What are the lingering effects of Disney?
Good art asks good questions and deals with the fundamental questions of life: Who am I? Do I matter? What is the purpose of life? What values should I hold?
We don't need to affirm all of the answers Disney movies try to give (there can be a a dark side to "Follow your Heart") but as master story tellers they know a lot about the human condition and the longings we all have.
Can steadfast love reverse a curse and make a beast human again?
That makes Disney worth thinking about.
plus - thinking about Disney movies is just tons of fun anyway
