When classes started up I was amazed when I realized how much I really missed being in a semester! I love the smell of a new class! I'm anticipating a nominally busy semester, but with really exciting content!
- "Apologetics and Outreach" is a class that everyone on campus talks about as being one of the best! The focus in class will be in understanding how the Gospel interacts with the world and how the world interacts with the Gospel. How are Christians to understand non-Christians? How do we love all people? How can we speak into the general discontentment that the world experiences? What does it mean when someone says, "Every time a man knocks on a brothel door, he is really searching for God."
- "Pentateuch" this is a class on the first five books of the Old Testament. It will be taught similar to my "Gospels" class and my "Acts and Paul" in that the focus is familiarizing us with the content of those books of the Bible, but also in really equipping us to study them for all they are worth. I have found these classes to be among the most valuable of all that I have been taught so far!
- "Reformation and Modern Church History" is the continuation of the church history class I took in the fall. The Bible calls the church as "the bride of Christ" so while it is full of ugly faults it is also dearly loved. These are great classes to challenge us into thinking both critically and generously about church history.
- "Christ and Salvation" is a class about the systematic doctrines concerning the person of Christ, his work of salvation, how salvation is applied, and similar topics. We will be asking what the Bible teaches and what we truly believe to be true about these things. This class will likely be my most vigorous.
