I learned recently why some utensils are dishwasher safe and some are not. It was something of a shocking discovery to find a spoon melted onto the heating coil in the machine. Now I know.
This Friday I am giving the "talk" to the Large Group Bible Study and Worship meeting. We have been going through the book of Hebrews this summer and I will be expositing and teaching on chapters 4 - 5:11. This is the first time someone else has chosen/assigned scripture to me to give a talk about. I am forced to really search and reveal what the text actually says (as opposed to picking my own text to back up what I already wanted to say). I'm really excited and slightly nervous. The passage talks about entering God's rest as a current reality. It frees us from performance based worries, which makes it difficult for me to be nervous about giving a talk about not being nervous.
Heb 5:7-9 (NKJV)
7 He who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, 8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.
