So last night I spent at least 45 minutes updating this page. I walked you through my weekly schedule, gave some overall thoughts, and detailed some highlight. It was pretty cool.
Then the page crashed.
I don't want to shift blame, I totally should have tried to save it before too long, but I didn't and I was reminded of why I usually write this stuff in a personal journal and not on a computer.
Now, in about 35 minutes we are heading out to the DiscipleMakers Staff Conference. I have some packing, eating, and basic grooming to do before then. It's pretty likely that I will not have internet access at the conference.
It's pretty shocking to hear that I've only been at this for two weeks. I've really enjoyed life here and everything has fell into a pattern. God has been doing some amazing things already and there has been some rewarding fruit of our labor here. I'll try writing again when we get back from conference, I'm sorry I was not more diligent about writing (I shouldn't have waited until the last minute). Here, enjoy some pictures.

One of the most blatant evidences in my growth in my first goal (Life events connected to my sin will be an opportunity to understand more about myself instead of merely happenstance) showed itself when I ‘lost’ my cell phone for two days. Instead of ignoring it's affect on me, as I normally would do, God lead me to take notice of how my lack of a cell phone made me feel like a less effective minister, like a burden on others, and a forgetful poor steward. The negative feelings certainly were stirring under the surface and being able to examine them I was able to confront the truth instead (that my only worth as a missionary is in Christ, not whether I can call people on the phone or not). To be reminded anew of that truth was refreshing and only possible because God caused me to do the hard work of examining my heart. This was my odometer today! My '99 Ford Taurus is on it's second engine and still going quite strong. Here's to the next 100,000 miles! Character Goal: Thoughts Thus Far:
When I was hanging out in the Student Union building I was asked to be in a photo shoot. Myself and two other students were taken to a pond and were positioned so it looked like we were studying. We had a great time getting to know each other as they worked on getting the perfect shot. So come Sepetember my picture will be on the main home page of www.psu.edu as an example of the model PSU student. Remind me to check it out
My internship roommate, Matt. We know how to have fun at night. This campus is decidedly larger than Muhlenberg's. I'm going to be in great physical condition after I'm done here! This is the inside of the apartment. There are two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, small patio, and good-sized kitchen. These were taken while we were still settling in; I promise my room is cleaner now. The bedrooms and bathrooms are a little tight (especially for four people) but, overall, it's a good space. We've had the entire internship group (14 of us) over for some meals and meetings and have all fit comfortably. It has an over-active air-conditioning system that makes the place smell very clean and like a hotel every time we re-enter. Wow... this first week (well the first few days of the first week) We are on one end of a larger apartment building. Two male staff members have another aparment in it and on the opposite end there are two apartments that the female interns and leaders are staying in. Greetings from State College, Pa! As of 5 – 28 |
